Hi Soren – Good to meet you, however briefly, on the 1st Aid course over the last couple of days. What a wonderful thing to have such a clearly defined and chunky goal. I wish you well with with all aspects – including the post-adventure blues, which you mention in your excellent preamble! I agree, this is very much a real phenomenon that demands respect. I don’t have any evidence for a particular prophylactic effect but wonder if you have a meditation or mindfulness practice? I see it as a possibility for stabilising the person you’ll be while you’re out there, and enabling a more managed transition?
Anyhow, my best wishes, I’ll look forward to reading on… 🙂

Thanks for the lovely comment, Steve! It was great to meet you these last couple of days, and I’m excited that you’ll be following along as I go. There’s a “subscribe” button somewhere if you want to get an email notification every time I post, but no worries if not.
I don’t have any particular techniques in mind to prepare for the transition back into society at the end of the trip, but part of the reason why I mentioned it in the first place was to acknowledge to myself that it will be challenging. I think that acknowledgment alone will help me prepare for it as the end approaches. Maybe I’ll introduce some meditation into my routine, but on the other hand, I’ll have hours and hours every day with nothing else to think about.
